# Enable or update multi-step authentication (MFA)

Multi-step authentication can be enabled on the **Account Settings** page. 

|| Note: If you hold administration access or manage the accounts of other team members, multi-step authentication is enforced and cannot be disabled. You will be required configure it during the log in process when you first access MyInterskill with administrator privileges. 

| To enable multi-step authentication:

1. Log into MyInterskill
2. Click **Account Settings** from the main menu on the left-hand side of the screen
3. Your account profile will be displayed. Scroll down to the **Security** section
4. Click **Manage** multi-step authentication
5. Open your preferred **authentication app** on your mobile device
6. Scan the **QR code** displayed by MyInterskill with the authenticator app
7. If you cannot scan the QR code, enter the **code **manually as instructed by MyInterskill
8. Enter the **6-digit code** from the authenticator app to confirm for MyInterskill the authentication key has been setup correctly
9. Enter your **password** to confirm the change
10. Click **Save**

|| Your security settings will be updated with immediate effect. The next time you access MyInterskill, you will require both your password and 6-digit code from the authentication app.
